After 23+ years in the Royal Canadian Air Force my time is coming to an end. Today is my last day of retirement leave and tomorrow I will unemployed (pensioned but unemployed) for the first time since I was a teenager. I must say that my career had some adventures in it but I will miss some of the people more than anything.

12 days till I finish school and start my next career .... Its a shame we can't have REAL retirement sooner in life

May God bless you and your family 10 fold for the 23 years of nonstop sacrifice that you gave your country.

Did you happen to be able to live in the same place (or area) that whole time? It seems that now people have no intention of staying with the same job (plus promotions) through their entire career.

What are you planning on doing next?

From one retired (USAF) to another retiree - Congratulations and thank you for being part of the defense of the free world.
Hope your next career will be as rewarding.

Thanks for all the comments, I spent my entire time based in Alberta but deployed every now and then.

I am embarking on a career as a machinist and have 1 1/2 weeks left in my CNC course. I will be employed again with only 12 days of no wages so at least the bills will be paid. Looks like I will be working mainly with HAAS CNC mills at my new work.
