Our Grandkids came over this afternoon and I got to spend time with my oldest grandson Scott in the shop. He had picked out the blank Jotoba and a gun metal trimline. He drilled the blank and I glued the tubes in and trimmed them. I gave him the basic's and helped in just a little but he did 99% of the work. He sanded to 4000 abralon and finished with 10 coats of WFT. He is very proud of his work and I think he did a awesome job. All C & C are welcome

Print out pictures 1, and the last 2... Frame for Grandpa - and a second for Young Evelyn!!! That is priceless.

I love seeing stuff like this!

Congratulations on a job well done to Scott, and to you Dan, for spending that time doing something valuable with him. I'm sure he will treasure that pen for many years to come.

I think Grandma and Grandpa are quite proud themselves. As Mark suggested, print out those photos and hang one in the shop to remind you of the contribution you have made to your Grandson's future as a man to be. Great moments are never forgotten by either party and live forever, even if we mear mortals don't. Jim S

Great accomplishments for you both. You for your mentoring and Scott for following instructions and producing that awesome pen.
Scott I know you are proud, Grandma and Grandpa are proud and we, the IAP family are proud of you. Well done.

Ray

Great job on that,Scott!

That's neat that you get to build memories together out in the shop. Those will be cherished forever.

Steve

Thank you veryone for the really nice comments. I think Scott is proud of the pen he made...he does have an ear to ear smile if that tells you anything.

Fantastic job on the pen young fella!

My son turned at a very young age (6 years old) with some excellent supervision. This was an event for Military members some 8 years ago. Although he didn't get to keep the pen it was an experience he'll never forget.

He's now started turning again and is doing nice work.

A Fantastic Pen Scott.
Love the way you made the cap a little larger, so the Clip would hold Firmer.
Your Fit and Finish, is Terriific.
Definately, the "Best first Pen, I have seen.
It won't be too long and you might be showing Grand Dad a thing or two.
Congratulations, Scott, you made Grand Dad's day.
Brian.

Dan, pens like that the standards do not matter. Fit, finish, material choice and all that are all secondary, he for years will say hey grandpa remember us turning my pen together????

However great job on everything.

Thank you so much for the comments, Scott picks up on thing quickly and takes instructions very well. I know making this pen will be a special memory for both of us.
