my first hollow form

I wanted to learn to make spheres and to make hollow forms so here's a hollow sphere. I'll make a base and a top from a dark rosewood later.

This is mesquite with a CA finish.

Hee, Hee, Hee...

Amazing what mesquite trees will grow around, huh? No, the quarter wasn't revealed during the turning! It's there to impress you with the tiny hole through which I was able to work to hollow out this sphere.

I'm impressed. What are you using to hollow? My learning curve on hollowing has been pretty hard. Lots of catches and broken parts.

I once found bullet in some poplar I was turning for a bowl. I liked it so much I left it there.

I drilled it with a Forstner bit first then hollowed it out.
