I heard it was the largest recorded in Maryland. we get little ones once in a while, but they are really too small to notice unless you are right on top of them....this is the first i FELT.

My first was the San Fernando earthquake 6.6 in the 1971. Still have nightmares.

Glad you are ok.
Tom

Sorry guys, I have to giggle:rolleyes::wink::tongue: been in 3 that range from 6.9 to 7.3 and thousands of smaller earthquakes. They are common around here.

I will add this, I think people get used to certain natural happenings where ever they reside. Earthquakes don't bother me because I've lived here all my life but I would be scared to death to be near tornadoes, hurricanes, etc.

Jon, my step son live just outside Baltimore and I noticed it posted about it on FB. He's prone to dramatics but I guess since I saw it on here it's true.:biggrin:

The U.S. Geological Survey reported a 3.6 magnitude earthquake centered in Montgomery County at 5:04 a.m. Friday. The epicenter was in Gaithersburg near I-270 and Route 124 (39.145 degrees N, 77.222 degrees W), USGS reported in a preliminary finding. Its depth was 3.1 miles.
Authorities in the District and Montgomery and Arlington counties said there were no early reports of damage. Still, many residents were dialing 911 to report the rumbling.

That is one of the last places I would have expected to hear about an Earthquake, Glad your OK Jon, I was born and partly raised in and around Los Angeles and like Becca I've bee through several, including the 71 quake, Never try and get out of a water bed in an earthquake. We lived in Santa Ana when that one hit. Tornadoes are very frightening, I've had them as close as a quarter mile from my house, and also Memphis sits on a pretty big fault, called the New Madras fault, it runs way up into Illinois. every once in a while it let off a little shake, but someday they say it will really let loose. Just glad no one was hurt.
