A friend of mine gave me a gallon of Silmar 41 casting resin... he doesn't like the smell and since his shop is more closed up than mine, the odor lingers longer and also permeates his living quarters which are just off his shop. So I tried it out and cast some bottle stopper blanks.

Of the three stoppers I turned, the pink and blue one is one he cast in Alumalite... the other two are from the silmar. I dyed the bottom half of the blanks with alcohol ink that I made from 92% rubbing alcohol and a set of multiple colored permanent markers.... one of them has a red cabochon embedded in the top clear resin and the other has the acorn caps from a Chestnut Oak tree that bombards me every fall at the farmer's market. The stainless steel stoppers are from EZ-Pot in Seattle. They are the same 304 stainless steel used by other vendors, but about 1/2 the price.
