I just completed my first Apollo. It is a surprise wedding gift for our older son and fiancé who are both getting re-married. I am hoping that they will use it to sign the Registry, and as a wedding keepsake. Completing it wasn't without a challenge. I got too thin when turning the cap and it split on me
. I managed to recover the plastic insert minus a about 1/8" on the threaded end. I re-glued and did mange to complete the pen. It is often said that our "saves" are sometimes our best work. The material is white Corian, which had been a countertop in a previous life. I picked white as it's a wedding color. I can now see why the Apollo and Artemis kits have an appeal. If I make any fountain pens in future I will likely go the Apollo route. I plan to continue my "bespoke" journey but perhaps only with rollerball/ballpoint. At least for now! Going to fountain pens has some serious cost implications.
