I wanted to make a bowl. Don't know why or what came over me but I just wanted to make a bowl. So I ended up making two.
The wood is mulberry that I picked up from Sharon (sbwertz on here). I ended up making some tools to finish the project. Turned on my metal lathe with a homemade tool rest. (I would show pictures but don't want you guys dying from laughter)

1st bowl straight sided, the ring near the bottom is where I used wire to keep it from coming apart with all the cracks.

That is a very interesting wood... I have several pieces of local Mulberry and it's much yellower than yours... almost a canary yellow... it does tend to crack badly though...

I like your form also...

This is a couple of my Mulberry bowls...

The mulberry I used was from older trees that was very well dried could that have been the reason for the difference in colors? I like your bowls I want to turn more. I have some more mulberry full of cracks I was thinking of casting with resin. I was thinking of a rich blue so it will stand out from the wood.

Yes, the mulberry trees were over 50 years old. I have some from a younger tree and it has a lot of gold in it, but the 50 year old trees are much darker.
