My dear wife, bought this for me thinking it has some beautiful grain for making pens. Thanks, sweetie. But I don't know what it is.
Thanks in advance,
Mark
I used to go here there and yonder when LOML went into some home stores. I could plan on her being in one of those stores for 2 hours, at least! Then I discovered the hoard of beautiful "olive" boards in many of those stores from the Memphis area to Dallas area to Springfield MO area too (visiting family). I have more boards than I will make into pen over the next 20 years! Sometimes it pays to follow the wife around if you know what's in those stores!
Your wife has a good eye for beautiful olive wood. I just picked one of those up a couple days ago. You can't beat the price in a discount type of home store, especially for the grain that you often find. She's a keeper. (The wife or the wood you ask? Both, of course!)
I am always amazed at how cheap nicely figured wood is at home goods. No idea where they get that stuff that th eye can sell it as a giant salad bowl for half what it would cost me to buy the rough, unturned blank. And then I wonder why I can't competitively price my stuff on Etsy!!!
