I just started this hobby at the end of October, as I wanted to make Christmas gifts this year for my family and friends (I have 8 children, so I have had a lot to make!!). I had my wife and each of my children pick out what they wanted me to make for them - they all combed over catalogs and chose what they liked the best.

Here is my progress, I only have a few more to finish - I think I will be done in time for Christmas.

This one is a carpenter pencil for my neighbor. It was made with a 60+ year old Osage Orange fence post from the farm he grew up on.

Same wood, but a pen for my neighbor's wife.

For my wife - Nouveau Sceptre made with Bethlehem Olive wood, I wanted to make her a really nice fountain pen

For son #1, Anvil in Wenge, he works in a jail and wanted a pen for everyday use

For Daughter #2, Horse pen in Turquoise stabilized Maple, she is an animal handler at Sight & Sound theaters and is horse crazy:

For Son #2, Majestic Squire in African blackwood, he works a corporate job and wanted something with some style to use in meetings:

For Daughter #3 - mini sketch pencil in white Aquapearl, she is an artist and needed something with thicker lead:

For son #3, he wanted something durable to really use every day for college, Anvil in Bethlehem Olive Wood:

This one was for son #4, Tycoon Fountain in King Cocobolo, he really wanted a nice fountain pen:

For Daughter #4, she is horse crazy like her older sister and loves anything pink. Horse pen in Pink stabilized curly maple:

So, the pen for daughter #1 is the last one to make for immediate family. I have had a really rough go with the southwest laminated blank she picked. Had to order yet another one to get this thing finished. But it should be really nice with the southwest pen kit.

These were for my Dad, Mom, Sisters, and niece:

For my Dad: Executive Rollerball in blue stabilized curly maple:

For my Mom: Executive Rollerball in turquoise stabilized curly maple:

For my older sister: Magnetic vertex Rollerball in green stabilized curly maple:

For my younger sister: Purple diva charm twist in purple stabilized curly maple:

For my neice: Aurora Diva charm twist in pink stabilized curly maple:

And finally, my oldest son wanted me to make a pen for him to buy for his girlfriend, Pewter Faith Hope Love in Bethlehem Olive wood:

I need to work on my photography a little bit. Dust really shows up on that black background. Ugh!

Happy Turning, everybody!!!

Kind regards,
Chris Charles

They look great. The slimline pro EDC clicker kit was one that has recently impressed me. I scrolled past it on retailer websites many times, just being relatively unexcited by the idea of a "slightly better slimline" kit. When I finally made one a few weeks ago, I found the balance, grip, fit/finish, and mechanism to all be excellent. Add to it that it takes Parker style refill instead of Cross, and it's actually a real winner.

Those are all very thoughtfully created for each recipient.

Great attention to detail on the fit and finish!
Thanks!!

These are great! I see you have some equestrians in the family with the english riding themed pens
Yeah, two daughters that are pretty horse crazy! 😁

Wow! - Very Cool collection. I'm sure they will all appreciate and cherish them! - Dave
Thanks, Dave! I am nearing the time when I can relax a little and make one of those cigar pens you sent me!!

Very nice project and well done!
Thank you!!

Yes, I really like that slimline pro EDC click, it's a lot of pen for the money! One thing I have been doing with the Schmidt mechanisms is putting a little drop of locktite on the threads before screwing them in. Had one back out on my personal Anvil EDC and it jammed all up - couldn't retract the cartridge at all.

I scrawled through each photo and they look very nice.
I commend you for tailoring them to the recipient's interests.
Very well done!
👍 👍 👍
Thanks, Mark!! I have been having a blast!

Great job on all of them. They will be treasured.
Thank you, Ken! I am giddy for everyone to open them on Christmas morning!

From one noob to another … great looking stuff! Very thoughtful kit selections.
Hey Danny! Thanks, us noobs need to stick together! 😂
