This is my Fountain Pen made with El Toro parts, Curly Western Maple, Crotch Black Walnut for the cap, and a 105 MM Howitzer Casing. Finish is about a half dozen coats of General Finishes Enduro-Var, Water Based Urethane, sanded to 600 and buffed with all 3 stages of the Beall set.

It measures 19 1/4 " long when capped. The casing was cut down when I got it or it would be longer.

Without a picture does the casing really exist?

Pete

Well done, I have a 5" marine casing maybe I should make a pen out of it. I have been keeping it to make a lighthouse

Go for it Sam! You know if you do make a light house out of it and put in in the garden someone will just take it for scrap so a big pen is as good a any use for it. Sure would get attention at the craft show won't it.

The imagination in this group is unbelievable! It will definitely make a great display piece, but I imagine you'll be wearing out nibs pretty fast. Great work! Great idea!

Thanks for your praise everyone.

I will admit that it isn't going to be the pen of choice for someone writing a novel, unless they happen to be a loader serving in an artillery battery. It is unlikely that it would ever be misplaced though.
