This style of coasters match cutting board and cheese slicers we sell. They are sanded to 400 grit followed by Wipe on poly and then thorough buffing including wax. Customers have seen us display them as a set with the inlay cutting board on the bottom with the slicer in the middle with the coasters on top. Sales of sets happen more often fir weddings or anniversaries.

Lovely work on these coasters Mark. And the fact that they are complementary to your cutting boards designs, I can see why they are such good sellers for you. Well done and continued success with your sales.

I usually make one "motherboard" which gets sanded on the bottom and is used to make the 1/2"-1" inlays. This time success has warranted two of these which were cut out and arranged today.

Best of luck SteveG - show them please

More inlays in progress.

To make these you need many varied strips of hardwood. I mark the top and use the commonly used triangle in chalk for orientation. I also ONLY use Titebond III which is the only waterproof glue in the Titebond series. Please skip just yellow glue or Titebond 1 and 2 even if you already have it. I glue both sides of every other strip with plenty of glue spread evenly over 100% of both sides. I move quickly assembling as straight as possible as I go. When done I straighten again and tighten those four Bessey clamps. They have blue tape to both protect the wood and keep the clamps clean. Wipe and let dry overnight. Drum sand, plane or sand one side and cut the inlays.
