Mounting a flat screen on the wall

I need some opinions.

I'm in the process of mounting a 42" flat screen in our TV room/ Office. It's going over my desk so I want it high enough so it won't be staring me in the face if I'm working on the lap top. On the other hand since the room isn't all the big we'll be viewing it from about 10 feet. I want it low enough so we won't get neck strain from looking up.

My thoughts are to mount it with the center of the screen at eye level while standing. This is high enough I just see the bottom edge while at the desk but is low enough that I don't seem to have to look up too much from my recliner. It's a little higher than some of the websites I've looked at recommend so I thought I'd get y'all opinions.

Anyone have one mounted similarly?
Opinions? Ideas or experiences?

Find a towel about the same size and tack it up on the wall. Makes it much easier to figure out where you want it.

Well since I got no expert opinion from a bunch of pen pros :wink: I went ahead with my plan and mounted it at the height mentioned above. Worked out great! Viewing it from our recliners across the room there's no neck strain so I'd highly recommend this height.
Anyone looking for a wall mount or considering mounting your TV on the wall may want to look at this mount. It's simple and easy to install. Best of all theres less than an inch of space behind the TV which is exactly what I was looking for. The Amazon link to it is below.

I have mounted about 20 of them over the past year in all of our regional office board rooms and have mounted them on the wall at 5 feet to the centre.

Just measured and mine only 3 inches higher than that.
All the sites I looked a recommend mounting much lower but I can't see that being practical. I know they are considering things like neutral body positions and such but that doesn't allow many options when it comes to placing othe furniture.
BTW when you installed your TV's did you use a wire moulding system?
Do they make any that's paintable. I'd like it to blend into the wall as much as possible.
