I made a few stirring spatulas for family Christmas gifts and had some more blanks sawn our so I have made a few more. In the pics, I have Curly Maple, Rosewood and Padauk. I also had one from Walnut which I cut with an edge grain orientation.....but didn't get a pic before giving it to a fellow turner for his ladies. These have been fun and getting a 3"x3" sanding drum has helped sand the paddles faster/better. Finish is Mineral Oil/Beeswax

Very nice Charlie. I love the color of padauk, but the figure on the maple... mmm mmm!

I agree with you on the Padauk...it was almost a bright Orange while turning but starting darkening very quickly...still a nice rich color.
The curly maple was a bit slower going as the grain was crazy. Even with a skew, I had to take my time and sand the last few marks. I also have some curly cherry I want to use for some.
