Yes. Working on acquiring some planes and chisels etc. I already have the big power tools.
In addition to not instead of pens though. I still love turning.

The major differences in my process are that I use a table saw sled instead of a miter saw. I use a table saw to cut the spline slots as well and use wood the thickness of a narrow saw kerf blade than the veneer he uses.
Basically same method of fitting lid - although router table is different.
I use a different type of insert. Otherwise I gained a ton of info from the YouTube vids.
I'm going to continue experimenting with different handle designs.
