These are a few of my first pens after watching my first video on the subject.
They seam rather crude compaired to most of the pictures of pens I am seeing on this web site

They look fine! We all have to start somewhere, and the beginning is a good place for that. :D At least you know that there is room for growth.

For your first pens, you have done some nice stuff. You made your own center bands, and added some design elements like burn rings.

Just because you did not use some of the really spectacular looking wood some of the experts around here use don't sell yourself short.

The key is that you are trying different things and starting to go beyond the basics of the kit.
 
They are absolutely right. Your ability is already apparent.
You made your own center bands, (something I want to do soon)
Your pens show artistic talent and with more pens turned you
will see small ways to augment and improve upon previous works.

Keep with it fellow turner, and sooner than later you will
surprise even yourself with what you create.
