Little tips and tricks:
1) The mesh effect is done by standard airbrushing through a static or traveling kitchen strainer, or by use of the Copic airbrush adapter (which allows for very quick color changes) through the strainer:

2)Liquitex iridescent medium seals the inks and adds a very nice iridescent layer:

3) The Ranger Mixatives (pearl, gold, silver, copper) make fine backgrounds on brass or white-enameled, or nickel tubes; and mix in fascinating ways with other colors:
