This is one of my favorite kits to make. The twist action is fantastic!
Mohagany and red oak wood segments. This is my first try at a segmentation of this fashion. Veneer for the lighter lines and black two part epoxy for the darker for contrast. It started out at about 1 3/4's inch thick for the blank. I purposely didn't drill the barrel in the center to change the shape of the segments, allowing the sizes to change when turned.
Sanded down from 400 to 12k micro mesh and followed with Danish Oil walnut medium to bring the grains out, and finally, Pita Sanding wax (I think it's similar to Yorkshire grit).
CA finish was started with Thick and several coats of medium till I felt comfortable. Then reprocess of 400 grit to 12k micro mesh again. One Step Plastic Polish to get that extra shimmer.
