Been experimenting on how to make use of my CNC with pen turning. As always there are endless possibilities. I have been cutting curved grooves on all 4 sides of a square blank. I started with 1/8" grooves but it didn't look quite right. The grooves overpowered the appearance. So I tried 1/16" which was quite ok but I wanted to get nice thin lines so that the epoxy filled grooves didn't dominate the final result. I ended up using a 0.8 mm bit. My first result using a 0.8 mm bit is attached. The plating is gunmetal. I have more 1/16" and 0.8 mm designs planned. The downside of using the 0.8 mm bit is that it takes a long time to cut the grooves.
