Top one is oak with white grain filler, engraved pink ivory finial on an unaltered SS Raw. So its big, heavy and way out of balance. Really a test to see how it worked out.
The second is pheasant wood on a modified aluminum kit. Got it down to about .5" dia total.
Working on another. I think i can get it a little shorter.

Now THAT I like. The proportions on the cap have always bothered me with those. It was soooo close to being a home run of a kit too. I think you knocked it out of the park.

Patrick, is there a flaw in the second one? In the first picture, you can see the gleam of light running down the length of the pen. Close to the end of the wood, you can see where the light is interrupted then begins again. It looks as if there is a piece of wood missing, or that the finish didn't work on that section. Am I just seeing things, or is there an issue?

Reflection of the cap behind it I think

Those are nice looking pens !!

I am not familiar with the RAW kits. . Could you kindly summarize the mods you have made, Please.

Len, yes that is a reflection/shadow from the cap.

Magpens, RAW is a PSI kit. The oak pen I didn't change any of the components, sheathed with wood and enclosed the ends. The pheasant wood one I turned the cap and coupler down and cut 1/4 off of the cap length before the other mods.
