This is the first Closed-end Baron I've done, I'm not quite sure I like it. The bottom barrel just looks too long compared to the top barrel. I actually made the top barrel about 1/4" longer than the normal size to compensate for the long bottom, but I think I defeated the purpose by using only 1/3 of the centerband. Oh well live and learn. The wood is Masur Birch on a Chrome Baron Rollerball wirh Masur Birch finial. Comments welcomed. Thanks for looking.

Joe,
PM me.

I will take it off your hands so you don't have to look at something you don't think worked!!! Are you nuts??:D It looks great.

How do you cut down the centre band?

Thanks for your kind words Ruth. Actually the centerband on the Baron is already in three parts, there is NO cutting required. Simply slide off the top "chrome" ring & the black decorative ring and whala! 1/3 centerband. :)

Joe, that is one of the nicest closed end barons i have seen, its an absalute stunner. well done [:0][:0][:0][:0][^]

That's some beautiful looking wood! I'm on the fence about the centerband. The pen looks great but I tend to agree with you, it might look better with a thicker centerband.

Joe, my thought is since you won't be posting the cap, the longer lower barrel will make it more balanced to write with, I love the look of Masur Birch, IMHO you did a great job, I agree a wider CB would not have hurt, could do the middle out the same wood.[8D][8D][8D]

I'm jealous! beautiful wood, lines and finish. Centerband is not a negative, but could be larger (or eliminated), either could work.

I like it just the way it is! The longer barrels make it look slender and elegant and the truncated centerband offsets the clip ring while letting the focus stay on the beautiful wood.

I think you should be pleased/proud of this work (I would be).
