Don't know anything about this lathe other than price in 2009 catalog page 123 list it for $199.95 with $39.00 shipping.

Would look at both data sheet & manual before buying.

Dannie,

In a word, don't get this lathe. I know two people who have it and it is not a good lathe. Grizzly's larger lathes are good machines, but this one is not.

This is not a bash, I own a few Grizzly machines and love them.

It looked very cheap in the store, I played with it a bit but not long as it did not feel right, no where near like my Delta Midi. It is relatively the same design as the PSI Turncrafter Pro 1/2HP Midi Lathe which the five reviews it has are all positive. Maybe PSI has a better supplier.

The Grizzly G0624 looked a lot better and has a "truer" 1/2 HP motor drawing 6 amps rather than 3. As for operation I don't know.

I was just going to ask the same question about the Grizzly H8259 and I noticed Dan had beat me to it. I had been considering it because I read where a Turncrafter owner was having problems with his shutting down on him while he was working.

Would this be a rare instance or are there others out there that have had great success with this machine? I'm a beginner and if it turns out that I don't have the flair for making my own pens, I surely don't want to own a Binford 9900 collecting dust. Fishing for more comments on this topic!

Thanks for asking this question Dan.
