Wanted to just give a heads up that the eggheads over at Thermoset have made a minor tweak to the clear urethane resin we've been using for DiamondCast, and now sell on our website. I've been asking them to see if they could improve the resistance to moisture, and they've managed to tweak it to be a tiny bit more moisture resistant without giving up any other properties. It's still a urethane, and water is evil, but it's more in line with that other resin a lot of people use... making it work better for hybrids, etc.

We've just gotten quite a few kits in on the McKenzie Penworks website that are available for immediate shipping...

Oh... also got lab info back on UV and Heat tests. If you don't want your casting to yellow, this is one to try. ;)

That big giant curve is the resin you're using today. To put that number in perspective. Here's a quick photo of the samples used for the testing.

Look how yellow those top samples are.... The bottom is the Thermoset.

We heat cure our blanks so I had the lab also test yellowing under heat. This also applies if someone were to leave their finished pen in a car during the summer, or you're shipping blanks and they end up spending a bunch of time in a nice hot truck/warehouse.

Short term the other resin is better but as you can see the Thermoset does stay relatively flat while the other one skyrockets in yellowness.
