My daughter is trying to lay claim to this one. I made this blank about 9 months ago from some metal leaf flakes I purchased from Hobby Lobby. I glued them to the tubes and cast them in PR. Just turned them last week. Mounted on a Black Titanium Retro kit LauLau Woods.

I Can see why your Daughter is seeking to claim that Pen,
That Blank is Spectacular, plenty of Wow,
Suits the Pen to Perfection.
Your Fit and Finish are Spot On.
Congratulations,
Brian

Just to make sure I understand what you did here is a question.
I understand you coated the tubes with the leaf material.
Did you clear cast over the tubes or did you mix leaf material into the resin also?

Did you smooth the leaf on the tubes or did you leave it "rough." ( sorry two questions)

Glued the flakes to the tube then cast in clear resin. I did not mix in with the resin. I actually "rolled" the tube in the flakes to make sure they pressed to the tube.

Looks great! You can also do these with painted tubes and simply mix the gold leaf into the resin and pour into a cast as seen by this link to the pen I made.

Again, great looking pen!

Thanks for sharing that, I'm going to have to try that! I like the pairing of the contrasting colors. You painted the tubes before casting, I see, how did the paint hold up to the heat of the resin when mixed?
