Has anyone done a aluminum or stainless blank?
Would carbide knives be necessary?

Aluminum can be turned on a wood lathe with conventional tolls, But it is slow going.

Aluminum works fine on HSS, but it is slow going. Where leather gloves and face shield. No comment on the Stainless.

Aluminum turns pretty easy on a wood lathe. Had much better results with a R4 carbide tool than my hss tools.

I have made many aluminum pens.I always use carbide when turning it.
