I can't tell you how many of these type 'pictures' I saw in my early years in the Navy. I think the narrator of this film also did all the Navy films and probably the news reels we used to see in the movie theaters of the '40's, '50's and '60's.
Very cool. I have two of the handbooks referenced at the beginning of the video and learned on that bench lathe. My dad has the bench lathe and turns pens with it.
We used those big lathes in '63 I remember making a turning tool and a stainless steel punch. Don't recall what else we made. Probably some production work for the teacher.
Like Penultimate I actually have the book! it's a 1944 edition of Volume 1. I rescued it a few weeks ago at an antique mall. Actually, I've learned a lot from it with about half the book still to read. Looking forward to watching that video!
