I've been in the doghouse ever since I sold my wife's Christmas pen. In all fairness, she left it laying around where someone could see it and make me an offer. I didn't think she would notice it was missing. She told me I could make it up to her by taking her to Hawaii for Christmas this year. I made her a new pen and downloaded a copy of Jimmy Buffet singing Mele Kalikimaka instead. That should smooth things over, don't you think........

That is just beautiful. I am so glad you are turning again.

And no, that doesn't even the score - Go to Hawaii!

I don't know if it rivals a trip to Hawaii, but it's a pretty awesome pen! At the very least it should get you out of the doghouse and onto the back porch...

Beautiful pen. Where did you get the blank? If you take her to Hawai'i, don't forget to bring her back. Two years ago, a guy took his wife to Las Vegas for their 10th anniversary. He's thinking about going back and getting her.

Hi John - I made the blank.

1) cast a white PR rod
2) turned about 0.02 under final size.
3) carved design.
4) painted design using teeny tiny itsy bitsy brushes / twigs
5) coated in surfboard resin (protects colors from uv fading)
6) turned to final size.

Alright, you just hit my 'Santa gene' right there.
This is a FABULOUS pen... FABULOUS.

You didn't happen to take pictures of this process did you?
Wanna to a tutorial?

I need one of these pens!!!
I am curious how much you got for the first one.

Wow. That is one fantastic pen. I'm tempted to go post in the For Sale section "Lathe and accessories - everything must GO!":biggrin:
