My dad requested a sorta makeshift replica of the yellow Parker duofold pen (see pic), and I'm wondering what the best way is to get the matte finish on the pen. Should I just skip the micromesh? Or sand through micromesh and step it back down?

Also, on an unrelated note, what might be the best kit to use to best duplicate the fountain pen in the pic, but in a rollerball version?

Thanks much!

Take the micro mesh to a polish stage so you get all the swirl marks out and then take it down to the sheen you want with the grit of micromesh you want which probably will be the first or second stage. No need to go backwards in grits just pick the one you want.

I tried MM all the way, to make sure it was good. Then I used the 1500 to take the shine down again. Probably overkill (OK was overkill) but I was pleased with the results.
