twister

My daughter lives near Sturbridge MA, they said some cars have the dirty side up from it.
We also have a tornado warning for here in VT

I was just thinking about Jerry $ Steve.. their towns are getting hit for the
second time in the last hour or so. Tornadoes touching down, some heavy
damage.. don't know how close to them it came, but Springflield is getting it.

had one about 4 miles from my house, about as close as i want to get.
had the day off but work called said they could see a twister from the front window.

Yeah.. looks like it is coming through again. Springfield cops are telling
people to get off the street (as of a couple of minutes ago)

We had a tornado warning here in Sacramento this afternoon about PM. We are only supposed to have Earthquakes here. Bad thing is all this is headed East. This is the wildest spring I can remember in my 69 years. We can't even get into my Uncles cabin yet it is still buried in snow. Oh will out to the shop for the PITH pen I need to finish.

Wow..tornados are unusual that far North east aren't they?

They are rare, but DO happen.... My wife is a property manager and her property was hit about 10 years ago. Many trees down, and some buildings had roof damage. Some cars demolished too. We have cleaned out the downstairs (below ground level) closet one time this spring!

With all the wild weather this spring, I went out a got a NOAA weather radio.

you know, knock on wood, but we usually always have them in my area, and haven't had anything like what the MidWest and NorthEast have had this year

arrived at store, buildings across the street ripped open, trees in parking lot and behind the building gone, never seen such destruction looking over the bridge scary.
a friend i do a lot restoration work for was moving from union street to south side of Springfield, both places got hit talk about bad luck, 2 months ago he lost every thing to a mill fire. he's not sure how bad they won't let anybody into ether place.

any one heard from my brother, i will have to give jerry a call

Rare yes but the 1953 Worcestor tornado killed almost 100. Still in the top 25 deadliest.
I can deal with blizzards and the weak hurricans we get up here. I dont like the idea of the house flying away.
Hope all are safe.

Weather forcast for this weekend in Nor Calif, more storms through Monday. So it looks like another band of bad weather heading East. "Ole" mother nature is not happy right now. This cool and rainy weather is good for LOML's plants and flowers but not good for the Vegies. A Friend of LOML's lives in Springfield, sent a video of the Tornado crossing the river, scary. There is at least a foot of new snow on Donner Sumit this morning, glad I came home from Idaho on Monday.

It seems like everytime we have a cold, wetter than usual Spring, violent storms are more prevalent in the Midwest and East. And this has been one of those Springtimes again.

We are at mid 50's for a high temp today. And this is heading East..again.

Jerry called me this morning and he's fine. Lots of damage around the area, and
he watched a funnel forming while looking out his window. That's close enough
for me.

On a side note, he's visiting a lot of the local people. Expect some burl and
crotch wood sales soon.

Copied and pasted from another thread (I'm tired and lazy at the moment...)

We're fine. A lot of trees and power lines about 1/2 mile away from our house, but it was very localized. We never lost power, but had no cable/internet last night. One house had a few broken branches, the next house lost 3 trees, and the next one lost every tree, telephone pole and tall blade of grass in the yard... Father's house in Westfield was just as lucky, no damage at all, but 1/2 mile away was severe damage, including a school that lost part of it's roof.

Real's the one I'm worried about. Not 100% sure where his place is, but I think a lot of the West Springfield damage was in his area... Haven't heard any news of significant damage in Southwick, but I haven't been out there yet, so they may just not have made the news reports...

West Springfield Rotary right by Woodcraft is going to look very different next time you visit. Many trees gone, ALL billboards gone or only pieces left, and several buildings near the ramps severely destroyed. If you saw the news footage of the twister on the river, that is right near the store. Haven't had a chance to stop in, but I drove by in the morning and the shops near WC did not seem to have any damage... If Steve was working I'll bet he had a decent show as it looks like it went right in front of the store, but across the street (unless he was hugging a burl in the wood room...) Serious damage across the river in Springfield, but I'm sure you saw a lot of that on the news...

Glad to hear Steve and Jerry are OK. Anyone heard from Real?

haven't heard from real but i believe that part of the street was ok, most of the damage was about i block away i'll see if i can get a call to him.

Glad to hear that everyone seems to make it out ok. That is always good to hear. On a side note, Maine also had 2 twisters that day. Just hit the ultra rural areas of the state.

Just talked to Real, He lives on the opposite side of town, so the house was unaffected.

His shop was missed by about 100 yards or so, so that ok also.

It was real different to actually watch a tornado form in person.
Funny, not in a ha ha way, what happens when a funnel is forming.
