I made this baton for an old Navy buddy of mine who now works as a Snohomish County Sheriff's Deputy, he rides a motorcycle at work and this will now be aboard for his daily patrols.

The baton is made from Cocobolo and I had enough left over to turn him a nice pen, hopefully he won't write too many tickets with it!

Oh, in the process I learned that the Shopsmith I used to turn this was bought in 1983 by my Dad. I'm amazed that it is still running strong!

I would say it looks great, but I guess I have an allergy to batons. The last time I seen one up close my head had a lump on it for a week.

My shopsmith was purchased in 1983 and runs just like brand new!!!!
Built like a tank from the 1940's....
PS tell your Dad how much you'd like him to leave it to you in his will!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice baton-how's it held up in use? I carried a cocobolo long baton for many years. Great balance and quick from the ring, but seemed pretty brittle. I aplintered a couple in spectacular fashion... We used to get them made by an old pool hustler/cue maker in town.
