The design from Alan Morrison used again to make a pen.
I started with a piece of padouk (16 X 16mm) , routed 4 slots 4 mm wide 5 mm deep.
Then i glued a 1 mm thick piece of wenge to a yew penblank on 2 sides, cutting and sanding to 4 mm pieces that i glued into the slots.
60 mm or so cut off and put it in the lathe, 15.4 mm round. Piece of merbau in the lathe, drilled a 15 mm hole that i scraped to 15.4 mm.
Glued together. In the lathe made it round 18 mm. Then the same with a piece of wenge. Turned to 25.4 mm to fit in a hole made with the 25 mm holesaw in 2 pieces of yew. See the pics for the result

You've done some rather precise segmenting and turning there, Peter ! !

Nice work, and thanks for showing. . Also, thanks for the construction details and dimensions.

BTW, what is the final diameter of the pen, measured at the center-point of the segmented pattern ?
