This is an old Craftsman tool box from the 1950's that I have just finished restoring. The finish and fittings are original, as are the felt drawer liners and mirror, just cleaned up a little. The back panel was beyond saving, so I put together this Marquetry panel of the Robert E Lee to replace it. These small tool chests make an excellent storage place for lathe chucks and related parts, as well as pen parts or finished pens. A newer model can be purchased from Harbor Freight for around $75 with coupon.

Sorry !! Battery went dead on camera and had to be recharged. This is what the inside drawers look like. Jim S

Jim, Don't take this the wrong way but that marquetry is far too nice to be on the side of a tool box (even a gorgeous vintage wood tool box).

Thank you Derek !! The tool chest sits on one end of my work bench that also holds my mid size lathe. The back is open to the rest of the shop and can be seen by anyone inside, while my chucks and tools are within easy reach of the lathe. I see the one Harbor Freight sells is one sale for $79.99 and can be had for under $60 with the 25% off coupon. You can't buy the wood and hardware for that kind of money, much less take the time to build it. Does anyone know why they have a machinest mirror built into the tops of these small chests ???? Jim S
