Maple tree

So I found this tree... My neighbor had taken down quite a few, and I knew there were alot of sweetgum trees in the mix, and he took them down in the winter, so I couldn't see leaves. I wrote this one off as a sweetgum, and the one next to it as a poplar. I decided to cut a hunk off the other day to see what it was. Turns out it's not sweetgum, it's maple, and it's very colorful. See if you agree...

no pens as of yet. I'll consider cutting some blanks up in a bit. If they look real nice I may consider offering some for sale.

I just found out today that I may not be able to get any more of this tree. I have to talk to the landowner again, because he may be saving this tree for someone. I think I can talk him into it, though, a turned goblet from a tree on his property, and a bowl to his brother, who owns the adjoining property have greased alot of wheels for me to get trees from their property. I already got a curly maple tree, a sycamore, and two cherry trees from them. I think I can talk my way into one more maple tree.
