Maple burl bowl

Hi fellas,I got some extended shop time this weekend.When I have the time to do alot of turning I do something large.I harvested this burl friday,turned the outside saturday,and the inside sunday.13"w x 5"h x 3/16"thick.wood sheen and shellac surface treatments.If it doesnot crack drying I will lightly sand it and apply lacquer later.









Found 2 nails and 1 staple,grown in backwards while turning the outside.Had to break out the mallet and chisel to get the staple out.

Beautiful piece Dale!

You may still want to place it in a paper bag to dry slowly for several weeks. Not sure if it will help prevent cracking but sure won't hurt.
