Here is the 3rd place winner in the component (kit) contest category at MAPG this year.

This is a piece of stabilized Birdseye Yellow Cedar with my "turned" CA finish mounted on a chrome Zen pen. It really has beautiful eyes and smelled great while turning and sanding!

It was well done and was hard to judge, all three winners could have been 1st.

Wow! It's so full of character that its hard not to just keep looking at. Nice pen. I wouldn't set that one down anywhere. Something that looks that nice just might find itself in a new home.

Thanks for the compliments!
I originally thought about maybe adding some accents or a little segmenting but the blank was just too beautiful to cut up.
I also did another Zen pen with this type of blank for a swap a while back.

Thanks also to the MAPG team and the judges. The time and effort to organize an event and get everything and everybody together is a huge task. Job well done! We are looking forward to again attending next year!
