Originating in 18th century Japan, shou sugi ban is a particularly striking method of preserving wood by charring it with fire. Does this mean you used brass rings for the decorative fittings or that you used brass powder for a maki-e appearance? Love this pen.

The brass "fittings" are built from several layers of Urushi lacquer sprinkled with brass powder

The Ebonite section was turned of the lathe. On this model the threads are 10 mm x 0.75 mm
