A KISERU KAZARI Type Pen with " Kurama Ishihada Nuri" Urushi Lacquer.
The Ishihada achieved by dry lacquer and fine copper powder. This type of stone surface is found on the so called «Kinkuramaishi» golden Kurama stones found in a section oft he Kamo River near Kyoto. The rusty color of the stone resembles perfectly the concept of «wabi» and is highly appreciated by stone connoisseurs. The «Kazari» decorative element is a realistically engraved feather with a small diamond

The weight just 35 grams. Total length +/- 190 mm, length barrel with nib 135 mm, diameter 15/19 mm

This is truly outstanding, for a number of reasons. Very unique design with the long cap, and the highly visual and tactile finish. I love all the historical tie-ins as well. and the diminutive feather is really a wonderfully subtle embellishment.

Was this a commission, or just a flight of fancy?
