I picked up a few 3-sided manicure sanding blocks to see if I could use them to sand a CA finish. It actually worked. There are 3 sides that are similar to the finishing pads- Not as many grades but still does the trick. Cost per block was .98 vs $12 + for finishing pads.
Just need to make sure you use a light touch so you don't burn through the thin paper. Not sure the grades but man did it work and at a low cost. I finished 4 pens with 1 block.
