Man Propria - Aogai Migin

Just finished some Ebonite pens with Urushi lacquer.
This variation is called Aogai Migin. Aogai = Abalone, Migin = Powder.
I have sprinkled very fine Abalone Powder into transparent black lacquer "Roiro Urushi" and applied sevral more coats before grinding and polishing.
It is almost impossible to capture the sparkling effect on a picture.

That's amazing work! You definitely got some sparkle in the pictures, but I know they would look much better in hand. I love the shell roll-stop, too.

Thank you for your encouraging comments. Ah, yes the roll-stop. I forgot to explaain. Thee shell is built up with lacquer and brass powder, then engraved and polished.
