malberry blanks

hi guys i was given some malberry wood from a friend of my dads has nayone used this wood to make pens before i tried it one time before and did not like the way it turned out. i put a ca finsh on it and it looked very very bad. what kind of finsh should i use on this swood or did i do the ca finsh wrong on it

I like using lacquer on mulberry pens I have made. Mulberry looks good with any clear finish.

I was surpised at how much mulberry looks like osage orange.
