Has anyone made their own circuit board blanks? I want to try but have no idea how to get them round? Can anyone provide some guidance?
Thanks

Hi Lynn:
I have made these blanks and my method was a time-consuming, inexact, trial and error, PITA!

I started by sanding the back sides of printed circuit boards until they were about the thickness of aluminum foil, cutting them to tube sizs with Lineman's sissors , epoxying them around a pen tube, and finally, casting in clear PR resin under 40 PSI. I chose to use the bigger Wall Street pens, simply because these sets left the most "meat" on the blank.

Even using the WS component sets, I still managed to cut through the PR and into the components, which required resealing the blank with CA.

You may want to fire off a PM to Bruce119,
as he did make them for sale, long ago. I'm sure there MUST BE A BETTER METHOD THAN MINE, as it was messy, VERY time-consuming and usually "hit or miss".

After many efforts at making these, my best course of action was to buy the Tiwian blanks on sale for $15.

Respectfully submitted.

Oh yea, WEAR A RESPIRATOR! Sanding printed circuit boards puts out some NASTY fumes, that I'm sure are likely VERY BAD for lungs!

Thanks Andy, sound like they are more trouble than they are worth.

Andy petty much summed it up there a BIG PIA. It's like doing a snake skin BUT you have to get the PCB paper thin first and that is TRICKY and can be PAINFUL. There is another way, they make paper thin PCB but it's a little beyond the average guy.
Good Luck
