Has anyone used Jewelers Magnifier Magnifying Glasses or any other magnifying glasses. I have found I need something beyond my regular workstation/reading glasses to see well enough when turning.

Any ideas would be of help. I've done some research online, but many options come up and its just a shot in the dark which pair of glasses might work better than another .

Any experience? I tried HF glasses, but they are worthless pieces of distorted plastic lens. Not concerned about price, as long it is on the short side of $50.

I was fooling around with antique clocks many years ago for a while.

A good friend gave me an old set of Magnavisors. They have an easily replaceable lens in varying powers. Two screws, two nuts to change.
Very comfortable head band, easily adjustable with twist of wrist. Very well made professional tool. Watchmakers and clockmakers use this brand. Replaceable head band. Great customer service.
Don't know where they are on the net, but should be easy enough to find.
Really pleased with mine. Use them for so many things. From their web site you ought to be able to put the right lens in them from the start, I think it gives you power = a certain distance in inches for focal lenght.
When you flip these up they stay up. That too is adjustable I believe.

If you don't find, please let me know I'll find them for you.

I use mine all the time. I bought two sets about 7 or 8 years ago. One for work, and one for home. Everyone at work laughed at them. Now more and more guys are picking up a set and liking them. I got the real cheapies, that allow me to insert different magnifications. The light on them is next to useless, and I removed the batteries to lighten the load. The only thing I don't like about mine is the headband is hard plastic and mostly uncomfortable.

It is a pain, to wear my regular reading glasses, magnifiers and hearing protectors.

I use an adjustable illuminated magnifier that clamps onto the side of my workbench. It has a 22W fluorescent lamp. It's a very good quality unit and cost over $100 about 25 years ago but it still has the original bulb (which will probably die tomorrow not that I bragged on it). You can get these in the $50 - $150 range depending on the quality of the mechanism.
 
I was thinking the same thing I am as blind as a Bat and that is with my specks on. I need something that will work with my glasses.

I have 2 of these and they, for me, just get in the way. I move around a lot when turning. I originally got them for Rod turning.
