This is a Magnetic Ballpoint pen in gunmetal and chrome, from Berea. The blank is a poly resin called Blue Swirl, from Woodcraft. I really, really like this one!

Forgot to mention, I back painted the blank, painted the tube, and colored the epoxy. Don't know if it was necessary, but didn't want to take any chances.

Not doing anything special. Just using my phone camera under some LED lights.
For my birthday last summer I received from my Daughter a small photography booth (about 18" square) from Amazon. It came with two small LED spotlights, and a small tripod for my phone, and several different color backgrounds. I thought for sure I would be able to take great pen photos.

Nope...

The bright LED lighting seems to overwhelm my iPhone 8's "aperture", and everything got dimmer, grayer. I even downloaded the Camera+ 2 app, which allows you to mess with the exposure, brightness, white balance, etc. It's still a crapshoot whether the pictures turn out well or not. So, for most of my pen pictures, I take them outside on my deck, usually on cloudy days to minimize glare and shadows. And they turn out ok. But I really would like to be able to take great photos (like yours) all the time, any time.

I have even perused the library here, looking for tips on pen photography. I will look again.

Thanks for tolerating my rant.

Kevin
