Been using thick CA for tubes and blanks. I've been a fan of Devcon Two Ton Epoxy when I built golf clubs. I got online and found it in four ounce bottles. Got a surprise when I noticed the box said 30 minutes work time, 30 minutes set time with recommended 12 hours cure time. Glued up a few today for turning Sunday as Saturday's schedule will be full. I can mix up a batch on a post-it note; let it set up before tossing.

there is an inverse relationship between cure time and adhesion/strength. for most (if not all) penmakers looking to glue brass into wood or non-woods, the shorter cure times are fine. I use BSI 5 minute cure (can find it in Hobby Lobbly). States cures within an hour ( i let it go 2). I have also used System 3 which I think cure in 15 minutes and was also fine. It was just a lot more money. Enjoy your tuning an shows us pics of tour work!

Tony, I can mix up a small amount and glue up two or three pens at one time. Hesitate at the 5 minute cure. First fishing rod I built had two part epoxy with the five minute set time. Started to set up and barely got the reel seat in place.

I use the BSI 15 minute. In reality, open time is more like 10 minutes and it claims full cure in 2-3 hours, but I always let it sit overnight before stressing it.
