made my first coffee bean blanks

ok, i FINALLY used my pressure pot......i casted a block of coffee beans. it took forever for the PR to set up. i guessing that the fact that most of the block is coffee beans and not PR, that was prob the reason.
once it setup enough to be removed from my mold, i then took it straight to my toaster oven......
after a few 15 minute cycles....i couldn't wait.....i cut the block into blanks. they look MAV-A-LOUS.

yes, i know, i'll post some pics this afternoon once i get back to the house.....can't wait to make a pen out of it......cutting the blanks on my bandsaw......mmmmmmmm.....it smelled soooooo good!

Lookin' good. Replied to the other post about the blanks.

Stock up on thin CA and keep soaking the blank as you get close to the finish size. Also, take it off the lathe and soak the ends. Don't worry about CA in the tube, it is a small price to pay if the blank doesn't chip out at the ends. The frustration of having to clean out the tube before assembly is MUCH, MUCH less than finding you have a giant chip in the end of the blank! :)

Oh, and I wimped out after my first one exploded and decided to knock off the corners with the belt sander before starting with the skew.
