Been lurking for about 6 months and thought it was time for a proper introduction.
My name is Howie and I am a penturner. There, I said it.
I am just an old married guy (32 years) with two in college and one entering high school. I generally turn pens when its too cold to be outside. I usually spend the warm days in the yard or shuttling around the kids.
I've turned about a 300 pens, ruined about 50 of them through incompetence....er....experimentation, you know, learning ways that things don't work. I also do other woodwork, leatherwork and metalwork. I have not mastered any of them but it gives me a reason to keep trying.
I was a nuclear-trained submariner and have continued in the nuclear business since I got out of the Navy. Suppose when I grow up, I'll find something else to do.
It has been, and will continue to be, a pleasure learning from you folks on the forum.
