After a suggestion from a member here to contact the CEO of lowes (thanks a bunch) I got a call from them this morning. The manager at the store where I made the purchase wants to give me another dryer.. Now I don't expect them to do that . All I want is for them to do is pay for the repair I had made... So I ask what would you do... I just want to be fair not over do it...........

Most items with warranties state that the seller will repair or replace the item if it breaks. If they would rather replace your dryer than cover the repair costs, then let them. You are not doing anything wrong here. I had a KitchenAid waffle maker that had problems after the warranty period was up. I contacted them and told them what was going on and they sent a new one to me and said to ship my old one back. Good deal and I didn't even complain, just told them about the problem. If you feel bad because you had to complain to the CEO, don't. They need to stand behind their product and if it takes a little push from you, then so be it. Different companies have different levels of customer service. They are finally doing the right thing, so take the offer.

The company has the option to either repair or replace. In your case, they chose the latter. Take them up on it.

The repair has already been made $160. I will have to eat that ............ but with a new dryer I will benefit of another year warranty.......

Off on a tangent:

When I got my house the guy there gave us a drier, and it was a cheap one, but worked well. Well it failed, and starting out being married we had more important things to get than a drier, so we would take what was given to us. And we went through 3 more (people gave us/yard sale). Then we bought one from lowes, a scratch and dent for about $150. With the plan when we get our taxes we will go get a "good" one. Well about 6 years later we still have that $150 drier.

I would let my concious be my guide....if you think accepting a new dryer would be the right thing to do....do it. If you have some reservations as to whether it would be right (and it seems that you might) then don't do it.

Personally,If I accepted the new dryer (and I don't know if I would or not - I don't have to make that decision) I would donate the old one to Goodwill or the Salvation Army or some other worthwhile cause that would be happy to receive a used appliance.

Smitty, Lowe's will take the old dryer, that's how we had to do it when I was a manager there. Just a bit of advise to all when you leave lowe's through the front doors there is an 800 # above the exit/entrance, we used to call it the 1-800 Lowes done me wrong number and its a direct line to corp. customer service. We then would get a call from corp. and had 24 hours to satisfy the customer or have a damn good reason why not.

I'd probably tell them thanks but no thanks. The repair was only $160 and has already been made. I would neither need nor deserve a brand new drier and replacing it is a hassle that I don't need.

glad to hear they made good I would explain you would rather them cover the repair cost already invested and if they cant take the new dryer
I would send that CEO a thank you too. maybe somebody in your family could use it or in your Church?

Myself and the Wife are still thinking about the offer. Lowe's will take the old dryer. we are inclined to take the new dryer only because of the warranty and the chance to buy a extended warranty on the new one................I still have a hard time with why the offer instead of just giving us a $160 LOWES GIFT CARD .

Why? Because they will return the dryer to the manufacturer, costing them nothing. Then they sell you an extended warranty making them money on the deal. They dont lose. If they give you $160.00 gift card they lose that money.

There are companies who will sell you an extended warranty on your current machine....check on line and you'll find someone. I get letters from them all the time because I have allowed the extended warranties on my appliances to lapse because the cost of the warranty now exceeds the value of the appliance and I would replace rather than fix.
