I got back into this hobby after some years away because I needed something that required enough concentration to take my mind off whatever is stressing me out on any particular day. Let's just say, today was a rough day.
And I can easily relate to your sentiments about "stress relief." For me it did not start out that way - just a pre-retirement hobby interest for the future in 2011-2012. But from 2015-2018 penturning (and IAP involvement as a community with new friends) was an incredible mental health benefit for me. I'm back to simply enjoying whatever I want to do, whenever I want to do it. Not being as productive with my turnings recently as my family issues are more important the past few years and for the next few years. I suspect I'll get my creative juices flowing again, but I'm in no hurry.
I hope tomorrow and going forward are a bit less stressful for you, current times/events are not making this easier.
