There are several stories we hear of customers who say they don't want to buy a pen from us because they are afraid to loose it. Along those lines, I'll offer the following stories that have happened to me the last few days.

A lady emailed me last week saying she had bought a pen for her father at a show last May. It was special design for a Tennessee sports fan. Her father recently lost it and she wanted to replace it for Christmas. I had one remaining in inventory which I shipped this week after receiving her check.

Another young man emailed me this week saying he had his pen stolen from his car. He had received the pen for his graduation in 2002 and he asked if I could make him another. I'll be sending him pictures this weekend for him to choose from.

In both cases, these folks made special efforts to either keep my business card or to find my contact information.

It's gratifying to have people come back because they liked your products. It's more gratifying to hear of a person who really cherishes something you've made.

I'll now have 2 great stories to use when people say they cannot keep up with a nice pen.

I've gotten the same "I don't wanna lose it" from someone before. It happens, the first one I recieved from my dad is lost to the aether (kids, I suspect) but it happens. So far I have yet to hae anyone ask to have one replaced. Haven't been selling them for very long, though.

Awesome! I have had a person in Australia email me and asked if I had another pen like I sold to him because they had lost it. I did not, but I made them another one.
It does make you feel, I guess, proud...

You did good Rick. Pens are always hard to hang onto. Seems there is always someone who wants them more than we do. But, don't want to pay for one.

I had the same type of thing happen to one of my pens.

My daughter gave one of her very good friends a birthday present that I specially turned for her. A little over a year later she was very sad because she had "misplaced it". Since it was her pen and she showed it off regularly, everyone knew who it belonged to. About two weeks later it showed up at school and the teacher held on to it to return it to her.

So if the person is the type who "always loses pens" make sure they show it off to EVERYONE so they know who it belongs to.:wink:

I recently had an email from a lady whose husband bought her a pen for their wedding anniversary almost a year ago. She was obviously upset that she had lost it.

So I made her another one, which was identical.

Then I recived this email:

Hi Rod,

I've just arrived at my place of work and discovered your parcel with the replacement pen inside....... wow! That was quick!

It looks lovely and I can't thank you enough, only there was no invoice inside the parcel so although I have your address, I'm not sure how much the pen was. Could you just let me know how much it is and I'll make sure I'll send you a cheque asap. Or I can pay with my online banking or paypal if you prefer?

Thanks so much again, you've put a big smile on my face today and I'm looking forward to using the pen again when I next go examining..... except this time it won't be leaving my side for one second!
I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Joanna
It was easy for me to reply that "if it put a big smile on your face then that is payment enough for me".

The next email I recieved from her had a photo of her holding the pen... with a big smile.

Job done!
