Well my 12 year old Beagle, Thunder, had to be put down today. All of a sudden this weekend he lost the use of his rear legs. Vet was pretty sure it was related to a tumor. There were no other options due to his age and general health. He had been a faithful friend never asking for anything other to fed, petted, and given a few kind words. Now I did have to overlook his incessant howling, but after all he was a Beagle. Will sure miss him.

Sorry to hear about your buddy.

Our 3 dogs are just as an important part of our family as our 5 kids. I know the day will come when one of them will part from us as well and I am sure not looking forward to it.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Our pets become an integral part of our family & it's sad when they depart from us.

Sorry to hear.... unfortunate that we live so much longer than those which grow into our closest friends, a Cruel twist of fate. Still, try and focus on all the good memories you have. you've had years of great times together

We sure get attached to our animals...sorry to hear about Thunder...I have a female Jack Russell that is almost 14 years old.....

Thanks to everyone for the wonderful expressions. Old habits are hard to break - Yesterday as I backed in the driveway I caught myself looking in the pen to see if Thunder was looking for me. The memories will alway be there to treasure. Thunder.jpg

My sympathies to you. I've have owned Springer Spaniels for as long as I can remember. My last one, George, loved to 'help' out in the shop. His favorite game was to throw his ball under the workbench then lick my ears when I crawled on the floor to recover it!!! As soon as my back was turned he would throw it under again. I'm sure each project took me 5 times as long as it should but I loved the company. George's replacement, Harry, is an equally wonderful dog but prefers to stay in doors sitting on the wifes lap. Even after a year the workshop seems lonely without George.
