I got back from a hellish two weeks in Ok to find that my beloved draft cross gelding had died of an aneurysm while I was gone. They didn't want to tell me over the phone. I bred and raised him from a foal. He was 10 years old.
I am sorry for you loss. I can only imagine that bonds between humans and horses is very strong. We lost a Great Pyrenees last October. She was almost 13, and I still feel grief now and then. We get over our pets, maybe never completely, it just takes time. I'm not sure I'd want it any other way.
So sorry for your loss, he is a fine looking horse. I must say he looks very big, must be that draft. Just think of the good times that you had together and keep a smile on your face. Gary
So sorry to hear of your loss. I know all to well that feeling of missing a piece of your heart. One day the two of you shall meet and ride across the Rainbow Bridge together again. May your heart be warmed by the memories of the time you had with your friend.
Thank you all so much. Yes he WAS a big guy. He was 17.3hh at the shoulder-- taller than I am. His daddy was my wonderful Belgian stallion and his mama was a Native Dancer line TB. He was gentle and kind and a wonderful jumper. He was also the family pet, just like his daddy was.

I would have loved to see this big guy jump, wow. Like I said, he is a big boy, I have a hard time getting up on a 16 hand. I would have needed a step ladder for him. Great looking horse, you did well rasing him.
